FAQs

Business telecoms questions, answered straight

The things businesses actually ask us before they switch.

How much does a business phone system or VoIP cost?

Hosted VoIP is normally charged per user, per month — typically around £15–£20 depending on features, handsets and call packages, which usually works out cheaper than traditional lines once you remove line rental. Your exact price depends on user numbers and call volumes, so we give you a fixed, tailored quote for free.

How much does a leased line cost?

Leased lines are priced on speed and location and typically range from around £150–£400 per month. Because every site is different, we survey your location and quote an exact monthly price — no surprises.

Can I keep my existing phone number?

Yes. In almost all cases we can “port” your existing numbers — including traditional landline numbers — across to your new system, so your customers never notice a change.

Will my phones work in a power cut, and can I still call 999?

VoIP needs power and internet, so a digital handset won’t work in a power cut on its own. We set every customer up with a backup — such as mobile failover or a battery backup unit — so you can always reach 999/112, in line with Ofcom’s rules.

Is VoIP reliable enough for business?

Yes. On a decent connection, VoIP call quality matches or beats old phone lines. We add failover so if your internet drops, calls automatically divert to mobiles, and we monitor your service proactively.

Do I need a leased line, or will business broadband do?

Most small-to-medium businesses are well served by full-fibre (FTTP) or SOGEA broadband. A dedicated leased line with a guaranteed SLA is the safer choice if you have lots of staff, rely on cloud apps and video, can’t tolerate downtime, or if no other business broadband is available at your location. We advise honestly based on your usage — see the comparison above.

How long does it take to switch or get installed?

VoIP can often be live within a day or two once numbers are ported. Broadband installs take days to a few weeks; leased lines need a survey and build and can take up to 90 days depending on your area. We manage the whole timeline and keep you running throughout.

What is the PSTN / ISDN switch-off and does it affect me?

The UK’s analogue phone network (PSTN) and ISDN lines are being retired, with the switch-off completing by January 2027. If your business uses traditional phone lines you’ll need to move to a digital (VoIP) service before then. We audit your setup for free and manage the switch with no downtime.

What contract terms do you offer?

We offer straightforward 12-month or 24-month terms, explained clearly up front — with no hidden auto-renewals or surprise price rises. Pick the term that suits your business.

How fast do you respond when something goes wrong?

We pride ourselves on a quick response during business hours. You’ll speak to a UK-based engineer who already knows your account — not an overseas queue.

Do you only cover Oxfordshire?

We’re based in Oxfordshire but install and support businesses nationwide. Wherever you are in the UK, we can help.
